Written by 2Three // Filed in General // Viewed 132 times
[January 17, 2008]

If you refer to the top navigation menu, you will notice two new pages: Our Xbox 360 & PS3 Control Lists. These lists detail the control options available in games so our readers can easily determine which games offer Southpaw, Legacy and/or Customization. We also provide additional information that may be pertinent for certain titles. Our goal is to keep each list current and we hope that these become key points of reference for our readers.
The Orange Box (360 & PS3)

Alternate control schemes supported:
-Southpaw
-Button mapping
If you haven’t picked up the greatest deal in modern gaming then you are missing out or you may just be a Legacy style player and wise to the lack the Alt Controls support. The Orange Box includes five action packed titles, Half Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and the “mind fuck” known as Portal. The first three titles follow the continuing adventures of Gordon Freeman, while Team Fortress 2 gives us some multiplayer goodness with a class based first person shooter.

[January 16, 2008]

Dark Sector is a game that looks to spice up the 3rd person shooter genre by giving players an arsenal of unique powers and a neat bladed glaive (pictured above). Developed by Digital Extremes, Dark Sector is scheduled to be released on February 26th. Read the rest…
Call of Duty 5 Rumor: World War II Again?

[January 15, 2008]

Is it a big secret that a fifth installment is on the way? Not really. What’s interesting is the rumor on Joystiq that the series will be returning to its WW II roots.
After Infinity Ward’s fabulous and refreshing modern twist on the series, returning to the tired WW II format is a step backwards in our opinion. Treyarch will be handling the game development this time around, as they did for CoD 3. One can’t help but wonder why they would consider this based on the public’s overwhelmingly positive response to the modernization of the series. Read the rest…
Will Project Origin Have Southpaw & Legacy?
Written by 2Three // Filed in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 // Viewed 168 times
[January 15, 2008]

Project origin is the follow-up game to the critically acclaimed FEAR. Developed by Monolith Productions, this game is slated to be released sometime in 2008.
As a Legacy player, I enjoyed FEAR but was disappointed by the lack of support for my control style preference. Here’s hoping that Project Origin will be an alt-friendly game and support Southpaw, Legacy and (why not?) even full customization. We will be keeping our eyes on this one and will disclose our full report upon its release this year.
The Darkness by Starbreeze

[January 15, 2008]

We are talking about the game here of course, not the band. The Darkness is yet another example of a great title that was overlooked by many gamers. It came out this past summer, but I’m going to guess that too many people were awaiting the release of BioShock to pay attention to this one. But since BioShock is not an alt-control friendly game, and The Darkness is (Southpaw and Legacy are available, of course), we here at Alt-Controls.com are going to give it the recognition it deserves. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Alt Controls Supported: Not Applicable
First off, this title is neither a third or first person shooter. LSW:TCS is a mix on platforming, hack N slash, puzzle, and in “Episode I” some pod racing. I can only imagine that if you ever wind up say….in the Millennium Falcon shooting down tie fighters, with default controls, you are going to be aiming with the left analog. Which makes perfect sense.
In LSW:TCS, you progress through a watered down story mode of the game collecting all kinds of crap comprised entirely of Lego pieces. I don’t need to tell you that as you play through each episode of the saga you will play as most or all of the main characters of the Star Wars universe. You never saw THAT coming, I know. Now, if I sounds like I am downing this game it’s because I really couldn’t get into it. Maybe it’s because I found myself just trying to get through “Episode I” so I could do a write up of my findings. Hit the link for the mind bending explaination. Read the rest…
Mass Effect: Not For Southpaws
Written by 2Three // Filed in Xbox 360 // Viewed 163 times
[January 14, 2008]

That’s right, Mass Effect has neglected Southpaw. Legacy as well, for that matter. Yet another highly publicized game that leaves alt-control players out in the cold, which is unfortunate as many people were anxiously awaiting this one. A modded controller would help, but menu navigation is quite difficult even with one of those, particularly when using a Legacy mod. Perhaps the developers should have spent less time on cinematics, and more time on play controls. Read the rest…
Bungie’s Halo 3: Alt-Control Friendly

I’m almost positive that every 360 gamer has played this one. In fact, if you have a 360, you probably own this game. If not, you’re likely just waiting for the inevitable price drop. Read the rest…
PS3 Modded Controllers
Written by SAKY // Filed in PlayStation 3 // Viewed 267 times
[January 13, 2008]
I have kept in touch with RonDCrasher for almost two years now and this gentleman does awesome and speedy work on modded controllers for the Xbox 360. I have purchased a 360 pad from him and you can bet that it’s the only controller I use for FPS(s) now.
We’ll, I’d like to announce to everyone that he has completed work on just about every type of PS3 controller mod you can think of including switches to turn the modification off or on at anytime. Which is great if you have only one controller for a system. I don’t have any pricing available but I can assure you all that whatever the charge it will be fair. Ron has confided in me that PS3 controllers are more difficult to work on, so please don’t be angry if he charges more money to do work on these controllers then he does the 360 mods. Needless to say I highly recommend getting a controller from this man, he is honest, friendly, and stands behind his work.
Also, don’t expect something like the picture above, that is a photoshop image. ![]()
