For those of you who were annoyed by the fact that Treyarch is bringing the COD series back to its WWII origins, here’s another one for you – Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway.

From Gearbox Software and Ubisoft comes this tactical first person shooter, which is scheduled for an August 26th release on the Xbox 360 and PS3. To me, the game play seems very reminiscent of the Rainbow Six series. You’re able to take cover from a third person perspective as seen in R6 and you can give commands to your squad mates in a similar fashion as the famed Tom Clancy FPS series. It’s a different twist for a WWII game, albeit a return to very familiar settings.
This summer is actually shaping up to be pretty slow for FPS gamers, with Unreal Tournament 3 for the Xbox 360 being one of the few high profile releases for shooter fans. So if you like WWII and the RSV series, you’ll probably want to check this game out.
As far as controls are concerned, who knows what to expect. This is a Ubisoft game, which would have meant that support for alt-controls was a sure bet in the past. After Haze, it’s all up in the air, so it should be very interesting to see what this game has to offer for controls. It will also give us some indication of what to expect for Borderlands, another intriguing FPS that is currently being developed Gearbox Software as well.
