Check out this little gem…

Stumbling around the interwebs, searching for stories about Legacy controls, I found this incredible article! This is a must read. Someone has gotten through to Gabe Newell at Valve, and he’s promised Legacy controls in Left 4 Dead coming soon. I was all too excited to go check my Xbox 360 copy of The Orange Box, but alas no Legacy to be found there quite yet. Gabe doesn’t specifically state that Legacy will come to The Orange Box as well, but that was the game that sparked the whole conversation. Here’s hoping! Check it out here.

January 8th, 2009 at 4:24 pmHere is the part where the Legacy update is mentioned:
“Hopefully you’ll be pleased to hear that, upon being reminded today of this nagging problem, we will be implementing Legacy control support in Left4Dead as part of the first L4D Xbox Live update, due out later this year. Though it will take more than ten minutes, you should know that the mere act of writing this email to you has doomed me to this task.”
You will all have to scroll down a ways and sift through the various messages though.
If this happens, it will be good news, but it is certainly NOT the first time they’ve received feedback about including Legacy controls… I know a number of people around here have contacted them about it in the past.

January 11th, 2009 at 7:21 amI think the only game that has updated to include new control schemes has been Marathon: Durandal (XBLA) so this will be quite awesome.
@grapkill
That is something we try to do.@Kula
Strange enough this was in Oramnge box, silly Valve. -

January 16th, 2009 at 9:11 amI have the game, I have the update, no legacy controls as of 16th of Jan 09…
…whatever happened to end of this (08) year I wonder, come on Gabe!
Its a great game, I love it but thankfully I’m not thwarted with the disability of being cack handed, however I would like to experience the game with my Pals, I’m no hater, I love all types of people whatever their race, creed, colour, texture, smell, even ones with their thumbs all wired up wrong, I really feel for you guys, I really do, I would march to the whitehouse with you all to end this travesty now.
“We want fully featured control mapping” “when do we want it” “NOW”

Thanks for the support!
Glad to see a non legacy or southpaw player around here supporting the cause and voicing themselves. This site isn’t just for the southpaw or legacy player, it’s for all gamers. Full controller mapping benefits us all.
