COD: W@W beta *UPDATED
After this past weekend’s fiasco with the beta codes I posted I received this E-mail from Gamestop/EB Games today:
If you’re experiencing difficulties accessing the Call of Duty World at War Beta, beginning tomorrow morning, Tuesday, November 4, at 2:00am PST you will be able to access the Multiplayer Beta. You will no longer need a beta code to access. Simply enter the Xbox Live Marketplace, click on “Game Demos” and locate Call of Duty World at War to download the beta. If you have further issues regarding the beta you can contact the Activision hotline at 1-800-229-3399.
So I called Gamestop customer support and a recording confirmed that indeed this beta will be available to download as a demo at the specified date. There are your beta codes guys, enjoy.
*UPDATE I just got in and I have confirmed that the multiplayer beta is now available for all XBOX LIVE users in the marketplace. Since there is no post on the content over at Majornelson.com I can only confirm that this is available in North America.

Has anyone been able to DL this? Or do I still look like an ass?

November 7th, 2008 at 5:31 pmMy, oh my. I know I had told you guys before that I was gonna pass on this one because I’m not too big on WWII games but having just spent an hour or so on the beta I’m having a lot more fun playing this DEMO than I am with the multi-player modes of Gears 2 (which is a franchise I admire simply for the excellent campaign.) I didn’t know how they’d pull the “Air Strikes” and “Helicopter” attacks in such a setting but the alternatives are pleasantly surprising! This may possibly be my surprise favorite shooter of the year… sorry, Gears 2.
