Damnation Has Damned Controls

I had the chance to go and rent Damnation this weekend and let me tell you, not only does it not support legacy or southpaw control layouts, the controls are so clunky, I would advise to stay away.
It does, however, allow for y-axis inversion and three levels of sensitivity, but that is it.The game isn’t exactly the worst out there, it’s just that its controls will find you very frustrated and wanting to throw your controller across the room.
If you like Tomb Raider and Gears of War, then you might find it quite enjoyable. It is a good mix of the things that make those games very popular. I find it quite sad to see a game like this lacking the tight controls and proper game testing which a higher budget game would have.
Also, its horrible voice acting will have you weeping. It did have the potential to be a solid title this year, though I am going to have to give the “worst game controls award” of 2009 so far. I can now see why many reviewers gave it a 3/10.
