Doom 4 Confirmed

It’s official. Doom 4 has been announced at this year’s Quake Con and it marks the first “next-gen” entry of the famed FPS series.
I know we have a number of Doom fans hanging around here that should be pleased about this news (such as McLovin). But considering the recent Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, which of course was also developed by id Software, left out a Legacy option, I’m sure that there are a few of you out there that will be approaching this one cautiously (such as McLovin).
Personally, I’m somewhat interested in seeing how the Doom series fairs in this generation of consoles, but I would suggest filing this one under “maybe” for the time being.
There is no official release date at this time, but reports are suggesting a tentative release in the third quarter of 2009. Don’t quote me on that though as it seems that any time I post a release date, it changes two seconds later. ![]()

August 7th, 2008 at 2:21 amYes I will be eagerly waiting for this one! Im pretty confident that it will have legacy controls seeing that doom 3 and quake 4 did, even though quake wars didnt. Just as long as splash damage aren’t in on developing it with id we’ll be right. If raven software are part i shall have a big smile on my face :o)

August 8th, 2008 at 2:51 amI watched an interview with John Carmack (head od id software) he’s really not happy with the DVD storage capacity on the 360, id’s next game ‘RAGE’ will come on two disc’s and the textures will not be a good as the PS3.
Although I regard my self as a complete HALO nut, even I can’t complain when id announce a new DOOM game. I hope it’s more action packed than DOOM 3, quite jumpy and fear inducing in places mostly boring in others. DOOM is a run and gun game with out a doubt, slow and steady pacing just doesn’t go. Give me BFG’s and Hellspawn I’m happier that a pig in shit.

The last one I played was actually Doom 64 as a matter of fact!
