G-Day: Gears of War 2 Launches
Today marks the day that Xbox 360 owners have been pining for since Cliffy B Cliff Bleszinski of Epic first announced the existence of the sequel to one of the top games on the console.
The wait is over - today you can get your hands on Gears of War 2. And in typical Epic fashion, we don’t need to worry about controls since all four stick configurations are offered as mitch822cc already confirmed.
To mark what will likely go down as another historic day for gamers, here is the opening cinematic from Gears 2 for you to enjoy. No spoilers, so don’t worry:
Enjoy the video and your Gears of War 2 weekend. Feel free to let us know your thoughts on the game, which of course has been receiving favorable reviews.

November 8th, 2008 at 1:14 amI have buy it today and sell it back to a friend after two minute of playing. Yes it is Legacy but they switch the X and Y axis on the 2 sticks. Good thing i just save 70$ for another game.

I’ve never heard of that before, almost sounds to me like you may have been using the Legacy-Southpaw stick configuration instead?

November 8th, 2008 at 1:15 pmPopped this in my xbox last night at 7:45pm played 30 mins of campaign and 5 hours of Horde, this mode is awesome. While setting up my control method I noticed that all four thumbstick settings were available, and buttons were ok. But being a southpaw player (as you all know) we’ve always had to make do with the buttons. I would advise anybody who enjoyed the first game to buy this.

November 14th, 2008 at 2:20 pmholy crap, i didn’t know there was a site for us legacy (and southpaws) players! does gears 2 do the same thing w/ the sticks in run and chainsaw mode as it did in Gears 1?
if you’re not sure what i’m talking about:
DEFAULT CONTROLS:
when in running or chainsaw modes, you can’t rotate with right aimer stick because you have to also hold down A or B to run/chainsaw, respectively. to counter this, the left stick becomes a Legacy stick, as in move forward/back and aim left/right.LEGACY CONTROLS:
when in running or chainsaw mode, the legacy stick switches to default (left movement only), and you have to rotate w/ right stick while holding A or B. <– fking painful!aka

looks like they didn’t fix it :-\ i modded a controller for GOW1 so that left bumper would perform the function of A, which would be roadie running. guess i’ll have to bring it back, but i still can’t chainsaw properly.
