Ghostbusters Has Southpaw, May Have Legacy Players Busting Controllers

Who you gonna call?

While you’ve likely read that joke across numerous gaming websites this week, if you’re a Legacy player, you may want to call Atari to voice your displeasure about the lack of Legacy controls in Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

There is some good news though: A Southpaw configuration is available, and all of the buttons can be re-mapped to suit your preferences.

Thanks, SouthpawMadness.

*Update: Please note that the PS3 demo does not offer alternate controls, only Y-axis inversion. An additional update will follow to verify that the options from the Xbox 360 version mentioned above are present in the PS3 retail copy.

An Atari-published game with Legacy… can’t think of any, no…

Edit: Yes, I can, actually: Assault on Dark Athena was published by Atari and had Legacy :)

This makes me very upset, growing up loving ghostbusters. Is it really that hard for game companies to include all the control styles?

I just tried the demo on PS3. It does unfortunately not provide southpaw or legacy controls :-( You can only change the Y-axis. Is it sure that in the real game you have southpaw and button mapping as suggested on the PS3 control list?

That is what I was told and it’s also mentioned here as well:

    Hi 2Three,

This is in the XBOX360 section of the forum. There could be a difference in the PS3 implementation. At least in the demo for PS3, southpaw and button mapping are not available.

Yes, though I wouldn’t imagine the controls in the PS3’s retail version would differ from what was offered in the Xbox 360 build. Should you notice the same discrepancy in the PS3’s retail copy, please let us know. In the meantime, I have updated this post to reflect your findings.
