Official MerchandiseGPhoria: Halo 3 Takes Game of the Year
Yesterday evening on the G4 Network, Halo 3 took the prestigious “Game of the Year” title at their annual award show, GPhoria. The winning games are voted for by the viewers.
Personally, my pick for Game of the Year would have been COD4. However, it’s difficult to discount the success of Halo 3 and I’m still pleased to see a game with support for alternative controls take the title for a change.
And I also know that we have a certain British fellow hanging around here who has a big smile on his face with this announcement.

But in all seriousness I played Halo 3 until COD4 came out (1 month). I bought the kitty helmet edition, went to the midnight launch, was on the Crackdown beta, loved the whole series, and everything. I still play COD4 religiously and really can’t stand to play Halo 3 anymore
COD4 GOTY IMO. Wait, it’s not opinion….it’s fact!

Just kidding it’s good to see HALO 3 still getting awards, as for COD 4 I rate the single player campaign much higher than that of HALO 3. As for on line HALO beats COD, IMO far greater choice of games to play and the online lobby system in H3 is vastly better than COD’s.
Waiting for COD:World at War it’s gonna seem strange going back to WWII after such a modern warfare setting, oh well here’s me waiting with fingers crossed.

Funny, I see it the other way around and here is why.
While COD4 had a great campaign I thought Halo 3 was more fun with it having the 4 player Co-op, easter eggs, and achievements. Both games had great endings but again I give it to Halo 3 with the throw back to Halo’s mad dash to the finish ending and the game ties up the story nicely, a real treat for those that played the two previous iterations. Those two points, I feel, make up for a sometimes incoherent story. If you are a real Halo nut, you read the books and it all makes for sense but I am not one of those people. Props to Infinity Ward for having the bad guys win.
Multiplayer? No contest! COD4 for the win. Just a stellar blend of tactical and run n gun styles with challenges that have you coming back for more, highly addictave and just plain solid. Halo is just too open, cover is mostly limited in maps and more often than not it all comes down to who’s the best at aiming. Just my humble opinion. Props to Halo for vehicles though.
