GTA 4: $400 Million in Sales

It’s only been out for one day, but Grand Theft Auto 4 has managed to pull in $400 million in sales, besting Halo 3’s $300 million. Make no mistake, this game is huge. Being multi-platform, it is not a surprise that it’s managed to kick Master Chief off the podium as the current top dog in the video game industry.

Now for us, this means that it is highly unlikely that Rockstar is going to make any significant changes to the control configurations. With figures like these, they really don’t need to change much of anything.

Some of you are perfectly fine with the controls in GTA 4. If the auto-lock aiming system does the job for you and you don’t have any issues with movement, driving, or combat… well that’s great news as far as I’m concerned.

However, I know there are a number of you that aren’t happy with the controls. You need your Southpaw or Legacy. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Personally, I would imagine that I will be alright for the most part. However, I can definitely see myself having difficulties while sniping without being able to use Legacy.

So now what? With no official community forum for GTA 4, it is difficult to make ourselves heard. All I can suggest for those who would like to see proper Southpaw & Legacy settings in the inevitable GTA 5 would be to start making some noise about it now.

Ideally, for GTA 5 I would like to see support for full customization. It’s logical with the number of control sequences they have added for on-foot, combat, driving, and sniping. Why not just give us a customizing option so we can set the sticks and buttons however we want? This week alone has demonstrated that in spite of us all being alt-control players, we don’t always see eye to eye on controls. Thus the best option, in my opinion, would be full customization for a game like Grand Theft Auto 4 where so many control variations need to be taken into account because of the amount of game play variety.

I agree, I play southpaw walking with the right stick and looking around with the left. You would think you would be able to change this setting in GTA4.

There is an option to use Southpaw when sniping, but that’s about all they included to cater to the lefties.

Hey 2Three. Your new site design is so amazing. It really expresses what your site is all about. Much better then your previous design.

Thank you. Now we look like a gaming site and that was the goal. :)

I ended up permanently re-wiring my xbox 360 wireless controller for southpaw support. There are just too many games now that don’t handle it properly. Took me four hours, but was well worth it.
