GTA4: Still Taking One For The Team

Well, after much contemplation, I have decided that I will still go ahead and purchase GTA4 for a write up. I’m dissapointed in Rockstar and feel like my bubble was popped because I was really looking forward to this game, but the fight must continue. If you haven’t read my previous post I will be posting my thoughts on GTA4, specifically the single player portion, and it’s control layout. As we always do, pictures of the control menus will be included and I will give you an idea of what to expect if you plan on using a modded controller. I think I can say this now, modded controllers are not going to help alleviate control issues much and will probably cause other problems.

Expect the post around 2:00am EST (-500 GMT). More after the jump.

On a side note it seems that contacting Rockstar and Take2 interactive is more difficult than say, well, contacting just about any other developer and publisher. I have found no “official” forum where the community can voice themselves to Rockstar and expect to be heard. Your best bet for getting in contact with these folks is to write a letter to Take2 Interactive or Rockstar North. You will find a “mouthoff” button on Rockstar’s homepage, used for sending E-mails, but I get the feeling the E-mails don’t get sent. Try that out, you’ll see what I’m talking about. 2Three has the mailing address for the Rockstar corparate offices in New York, if you would like that information simply contact him. Other than that, there is always going to support for a means of contact. I suppose that if enough noise was made that something could come from it.

Alt-controls.com functions in a support capacity, it’s up to all of you readers to voice yourselves if you want a change. If you spread the word, help grow the community, and make our voice stronger I assure you that we can make a difference.

I just called Take 2 at the number above for US support, he told me that the PS3 version does support legacy/southpaw, and the 360 does NOT support it.

Although he had no idea what LG/SP was until I explained it. I guess we just will have to wait and see to be absolutely sure.

Exactly. :) I would think that the PS3 and 360 SHOULD have the same control setups so it seems as though you were speaking to yet another customer service rep who doesn’t have a clue.

SAKY’s going to be the first of any of us to play the game and he’ll let us all know how he finds the controls.

Sadly I’m not rich so I will buying one version and it will be the 360 version. Even though the PS3 version has less issues with pop-up because the HDD install. Also sadly, the 360 version does not have a HDD install option.

I’ll rent the PS3 version when I can, maybe Tuesday.

It is now 1.30am in the UK and I just picked up the game there is no southpaw/legacy from my quick scan of the control options but the lockon mode should go someway make aiming easier. However just when you though sniper aiming would be a nightmare. I found an control option called Sniper aim which gives the option for left or right stick. I slammed that sucker to left sticking aiming. Not ideal but perhaps a nod from Rockstar acknowledge us alt controllers.
