Halo 3 week at Alt-Controls.com?

Two postings in a row on Halo 3, so it must be! And I guess it’s the game that keeps on giving, because a new map is on the way yet again and this time, it’s another remake of an old school favorite.

Via Kotaku:

Chill Out, an all-time greatest hit for Halo gamers from the Combat Evolved days, is getting a makeover and will be coming to Halo 3 soon. Bungie debuted “Cold Storage” at Major League Gaming San Diego over the weekend, to wild applause from the gallery, which watched the first match on the new map.

Bungie offered no word on when specifically it will drop.

You’ve just got to love remakes of old maps. Like the reinvention of The Facility from GoldenEye when it was brought back as “Felicity” in Perfect Dark. There’s nothing like playing a great old school level that’s gotten a graphical face lift. Nostalgic, isn’t it?

In any case, as the article states, there is no word yet on when this map will be available. But I know a number of you will be chomping at the bit to get your hands on it when it’s out, so there you go.

And I’ll bet that now you really wish you were in MLG, don’t you? Not only do they get paid to play video games, they even get to sample new maps before the rest of us. ;)

    As people may know from my posts I am a HALO 3 nut. This map coupled with the other two maps (Purple reign and Moon Base Alpha - Code names only), will add another three to an already bulging sack of maps available to HALO 3 players.

    PURPLE REIGN & MOON BASE ALPHA have yet to be shown, as work has been going on with these maps for a few months now (Purple reign was dropped from the legendry map pack to make way for AVALANCHE). Hopefully these maps will show the polish and balance that HALO players have come expect from bungie.

    The fact that we are getting a lot of remakes from the HALO CE game makes me wonder if any HALO 2 maps will get an overhall, COAGULATION, HEADLONG and TERMINAL are three maps I’d like to see remade, many an hour or two killing on those favorites.

    COLD STORAGE will be available on marketplace, on 7/7 (BUNGIE DAY) for free.
