Haze Demo: Early May

A demo of the long-awaited Haze by Free Radical Design will be available for download via the Playstation Network in early May.

Haze looks to shake up the FPS genre by offering some very unique game play elements. You assume the role of Shane Carpenter, a Mantel Soldier who is “fighting the good fight” against a rebel uprising by a group known as The Promise Hand. While part of the Mantel Army, you have access to a wide range of high-tech weaponry and a nutritional supplement known as Nectar that increases your strength and improves your overall skills in combat.

As the game progresses, Shane realizes that Promise Hand Rebels are not the enemy and decides to hang up his Mantel armor to join the revolt. While he will no longer have access to Mantel’s advanced weaponry or Nectar, he’ll discover that the Promise Hand has a number of tricks of their own that should lead to some very interesting game play. Rebels are able to play dead, steal weapons, and utilize a variety of methods to use Mantel’s Nectar against them.

Haze will also feature a variety of vehicles that will heavily impact both single and multiplayer game modes. But perhaps the best part of all is the inclusion of a four-player cooperative mode.

And get this… controller customization has been mentioned in the Official Haze FAQs. Not much else is elaborated on about the controls beyond that point; however Free Radical has historically offered all four standard stick layouts and button mapping in their past games. We may have mentioned that a few times around here. Plus the game is being published by Ubisoft, so you all know score with their games.

Although Haze has been plagued by numerous delays throughout its development, it appears as though the game is back on track and will be a must-play for Playstation 3 owners. Expect this game to turn heads and take the gaming world by surprise when it is released on May 20th.
