Hope for HALO 3

As many readers may know I am an honest to goodness HALO 3 freak. I love the game, to be honest it never leaves the disc tray of my 360 (and if it does it’s straight back in when I’m finished playing other games).
Now like many of you guys I struggle when it comes to jumping and melee attacks while in the heat of combat. But there is hope, I have now started to use the button layot ‘BUMPER JUMPER’ - this is a small configuration difference to the button layout which I’ve listed below.
On the shoulder buttons you will remove the reload/action and grenade swap functions and replace with jump and melee:
- LB Old - Grenade swap
- LB New - Jump
- RB Old - Reload and Action
- RB New - Melee
- A Old - Jump
- A New - Grenade swap
- B Old - Melee
- B New - Reload/Action
This new config took some time to get used to but after a few games and a run through of some single player campaign with the new controls, I found it to be a fantastic alternative to default.
By moving these away from the buttons A+B Southpaw and Southpaw Legacy players no longer have to release the movement/target thumbstick to perform simple tasks such as Jump and Melee, meaning you will not be stood still during combat. This makes game types such as SWORDS, ROCKETS, SWAT much more accessible for the Alt-Control player, who will not have to remove his/her thumbs from the thumbsticks to jump or melee attack.

June 28th, 2008 at 3:25 amI’m a southpaw Halo player and I use the Green thumb layout. I can melee easily using R3, duck is mapped to L3 and I can easily press the jump button (x) while keeping my thumb on the right stick. Jumping forward and right is slightly trickier though.

June 28th, 2008 at 7:35 amI don’t know about you guys but I play Southpaw and to jump/ melee I use my index finger and my middle finger naturally falls on the right trigger ready to shoot. Let me know if annyone does this.
