Mirror’s Edge

By now you are all very probably familiar with EA and DICE’s upcoming first person action game, Mirror’s Edge. A number of fresh screen shots have recently been circulating around the net, and you all know that this is EA and DICE’s innovative attempt at creating a first person, action oriented game where you’ll need to rely more on acrobatics and hand to hand combat instead of your trigger finger.

Seems like an interesting approach, sure. Although around here, it’s usually a letdown for us when games are made by EA and DICE. Based on the controls present in Battlefield: Bad Company, I think it’s a fair assumption that this game will not support alternative or customizable controls. I could be wrong of course, but I’m sure many of you are also not encouraged based on EA and DICE’s past titles.

I’ve been keeping my eye on the EA Message Boards, waiting for a Mirror’s Edge Forum to open up. Once it does, it may be a good idea to get a thread going early about the inclusion of our control styles in this game. It’s an interesting concept, and should EA and DICE pull this unique approach off, it could be a very fun game. Although there won’t be much shooting going on in this one, you’ll need to rely heavily on quick movements and actions, so alternative control support will be essential, in my opinion.

Definate assumption with every game now, except that from Epic in my opinion, and sometime Ubisoft, if we lucky!

I’ve been looking at this title my self, it does look very intresting. I read an article about this in a gaming mag and from what I read we not need to worry. The main problem with our control method is the need to move and shoot/look at the same time, according to what I’ve read this my not be a problem. You see guns are not really used in this game it’s all about the free running, using one stick to move and the other stick to jump or duck as needed Quote “While running a quick flick up on the other stick and I jumped, pull down on the stick and I ducked.”

Of course these may change, but fingers crossed user defined controls are included.
