Modern Warfare 2 Controls

modern-warfare-2.jpg

Many of you have likely heard that some lucky people have managed to get a hold of CoD: Modern Warfare 2 early. Our venerable Australian contributor so happens to be one of those lucky people.

Not that this will come as a major surprise: Modern Warfare 2 sports the usual control options that have essentially become standard fare for the Call of Duty games.

The only issue he mentioned is that Legacy players are forced to steer the snowmobile with the right thumbstick. Crud.

[Thanks, Mclovin]

Glad this game is not a snowmobile racing game. I’m so happy control never change

Also noticed that in multiplayer calling in precision airstrikes is unhandy for legacy players….at least for myself. Legacy is great for me for first person, but when it switches to the locational map for an airstrike it still splits position and direction across both thumb sticks. If this is the tradeoff I have to make to have legacy controls in this amazing game it’s one that I’ll take gladly, so its not a deal breaker by any means but it’s still unfortunate I can’t call in a “precision” airstrike with anything remotely resembling precision. :)

Does anyone else using Legacy wish that location and direction were completely segregated for the overhead map, or am I just that weird?

athis is how my “prresision”air strike conversation usually goes like over the headset.
Graphikill: wow i got an airstrike
Team member: did you.. how did you manage to do that with your retarded controller set up, your usually lucky to get a support package
Graphikill: well i did, so i am gonna bring the rain on the top left had corner of the map!
Team mamber: ye that willbe cool ter are 8 of them camping it up
    Graphikill: ARGHHHHHHH
    Team member: whats up dude
    Graphikill: (SILENCE)
team member: graphikill youve killed 6 of your team mates
Graphikill: sorry it wouldnt go where i wanted it to go…..every one okay, you want a brew?

@ Nillaz: Yeah I’m a legacy player and have the same problem… takes me about a minute to get a good air strike in position. So I just avoid using them, I stick with predator missile, Harrier Strike, and AC130/Chopper. The air strikes are no wheres near as good as the one in cod4, they are basically worthless in mw2.

Agreed! I hate that we can’t just control position on one stick, direction on the other. So aggravating!

ALSO… they have the tactical button setup, which is awesome, and I would love to be able to use it to help drop-shot other players, but the only problem is they don’t include a version for lefty. I use the “Lefty” BUTTON setup (puts fire on left trigger, 007 style) and would like to be able to control the gun from the left while using the tactical setup, but they didn’t feel like programming that one in, I guess.
