Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Beta (PS3)

bfbc2-title-screen.jpg

Thanks to the good folks at FilePlanet we have managed to get our hands on a beta code for BF:BC2. While most Battlefield games have omitted any kind of alternate control styles, the efforts of our readers have opened communication between developer DICE and our community. Slowly, more control options have been added into this developer’s games. So it is with great joy that I can report that said efforts have finally resulted in a buffet of control options for Bad Company 2.

Call of Duty Classic is Missing a Classic Control Style

Codes were offered in both the Hardened and Prestige versions of Modern Warfare 2 that would allow for the downloading of Call of Duty: Classic via Xbox Live or the Playstation Store.

While a Southpaw option is offered, Legacy is not. Read the rest of this entry »

Modern Warfare 2 Controls

Many of you have likely heard that some lucky people have managed to get a hold of CoD: Modern Warfare 2 early. Our venerable Australian contributor so happens to be one of those lucky people. Read the rest of this entry »

Left 4 Dead 2 Demo: Second Verse, Same as the First

Left 4 Dead 2 - Parish 320×320

Yes, it is I, SAKY! I am alive and well, just short on funds and as a result short on coverage material. So donate if you can!

We got our hands on the early demo today and, as suspected, there is nothing new added in way of control options for the second installment of Left 4 Dead. I’m glad that Valve has added Legacy out of the box this year. If you recall the original was given Legacy via a patch over XBL. I WAS hoping for a little more from this year’s installment of frantic zombie slaying but it’s almost a given that little will come of hope alone.

As always, a screen shot of the stick options can be found at the end of this post. Note that the “Y” button toggles the Legacy controls, same as the original game.

Happy Gaming folks. Read the rest of this entry »

Uncharted 2: Southpaw Controls in the Multi-player Demo

362px-uncharted2_logo.png

The multi-player demo of Uncharted 2 gives the possibility to swap the left with the right stick. You can also swap L1 with R1 and L2 with R2.

Unfortunately full customization is not available - I would have liked to swap for example the jump button. But at least Uncharted 2 does improve from the first edition, which had basically no possibilities to adapt the controls, though the Legacy and Legacy-Southpaw schemes have been left out again.

I’m definitely looking forward to this game coming out on October 13 in the USA and October 16 in Europe. Read the rest of this entry »

No Surprises with HALO 3: ODST

odst.jpg

Given that Halo 3: ODST is an expansion, I’m sure that none of you were concerned about the control options, though I did want to post a quick confirmation that this game offers the usual settings seen in past games from the series. Read the rest of this entry »

MAG Beta Offers Southpaw and Legacy

mag-copy.png

So it seems that I have some good news to report on for a change: the latest beta for Zipper Interactive’s MMOFPS, MAG, has included both Southpaw and Legacy controls.

The game is currently looking at an early 2010 release.

Slippery Controls in WET

wet.jpg

A2M’s WET will arrive on retail shelves next week, though a demo has been floating around on the Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network for a while now.

Unfortunately, Southpaw and Legacy controls were not present in the demo. The options for the full game, in all likelihood, won’t be any different.

Sorry, folks. At least ODST isn’t too far off.

[Thanks, SouthpawMadness]

Bad Company 2: Legacy, Please

battlefield-bad-company.jpg

Today I was sent a link to a thread that one of our members started on the EA Forums requesting the inclusion of Legacy in Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

This is a good opportunity to add your two cents on the issue if you would like to see DICE offer the Legacy scheme, or better yet, completely customizable controls in this forthcoming FPS.

DICE has taken strides in the past to make their games more accessible by getting in touch with us directly for feedback on game controls, and by offering the Southpaw scheme in recent titles. Hopefully with a few gentle nudges from you folks, we’ll eventually see all four stick layouts in their products.
