Project Origin/F.E.A.R. 2

The follow-up game to the highly successful first person shooter, F.E.A.R. is on the way this Fall.

F.E.A.R. was known for it’s intense atmosphere, fast-paced game play, aggressive AI, a creepy little girl and of course, violence in slow motion. Project Origin looks to expand upon the already successful formula by adding more game play and mission variety. Meaning, you won’t constantly be drudging your way through industrial complexes and you’ll get to utilize an enormous mech to take out enemies in slow-mo.

The trailer below illustrates some of the new environments that can be expected in Project Origin, and the mech sequence as well:

I have to say that I definitely enjoyed the scoped kill. Messy. ;)

Project Origin looks to modernize the aging series, as the graphics and game play elements have been noticeably enhanced. When F.E.A.R. first came out on the PC a few years back, I was completely blown away by the visuals. However, by the time I got my hands on the 360 version, it seemed a little dated to me and some of my other games, such as Gears of War, were much more impressive. And when F.E.A.R. Files was rolled out, it was clear that the series was behind the times. I decided to stick with The Darkness for the creepy vibe, and I got my slow-mo fix with TimeShift.

However, I have always been fond of the concept behind F.E.A.R. in spite of playing it a few years too late, when it was past its prime. So I’m definitely looking forward to Project Origin as it seems like it has given the series a whole new life and some much needed enhancements to the game play and graphics.

The game is currently scheduled for a fitting release on Halloween 2008 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

*Update: This game is now set to be released in Feb. ‘09. Too bad… the Oct. 31st release date would have been cool.

Well we can all assume this wont have legacy controls like the first or the expansion. I will be very surprised if it does though

Monolith seems to be very anti-Legacy…

But according to the community manager over @ the official Project Origin boards, the devs have said that Southpaw will be included.
