Resident Evil 5 Demo Available Jan. 26 (Xbox 360)

re-5.jpg

Just overheard on X-Play, which I’ve got flairing away in the background, that a two-level Resident Evil 5 demo will be available on January 26th for the Xbox 360. If you recall, the first time this was released it was only available in Japan.

In case any of you missed SAKY’s coverage of this game, Resident Evil 5 does not support true Southpaw or Legacy schemes, however there are a number of presets to pick from, outlined here, complete with control configuration screenshots for your review.

Now the rest of you will have your chance to sample the game and test out the controls. Hopefully you’ll find one of the four presets to be comfortable, but please feel free to share your feedback on the play mechanics and let us know if you discover any issues with the controls.

    I believe this demo will also be available on PSN the following Thursday or the week after. Eveyone gets a shot at the demo so good news all around for the folks who want a crack at the demo before buying the retail game.

    Well balls to them because it will be all the better if they wait and dont spoil it with a sneak peak of this (hopefully) brilliant game!

    @mclovin

    After the playing demo I don’t think I’m going to buy this.

    Anyone else find in this demo that you can’t swap weapons between you and your partner online? Even though the clipboard at the beginning of shanty town says specifically that you can. I could have swore that I was able to do that in my Japanese demo, but now it won’t work anymore.

    How is this even possible. I cannot begin to orate how upset I am that with the big success of Capcom’s Resdient Evil 4, and my second favorite game franchise, they’ve ommited certain controls that have been in every other RE game. Aftger playing the demo, I was swarmed so fast because i was unable to aim properly. I gave it time, i played the demo for a couple of HOURS, just to try and force myself to learn the controls, but my mind just doesnt work that way. Why can’t I just use the left thumbstick to aim like every other RE game made, or better yet at least support a legacy and southpaw control scheme like every shooter SHOULD (they have supported inverted y-axis). I can’t believe I wont be buying this game. As each new release comes out with high hopes there is always that little thorn that seems to always be overlooked. Whether it isn’t supported correctly (as in the case of COD4 or world at war… Legacy Inverted controls cannot aim while prone unless it is with a sniper rifle) or is completely ommited, how would this narrow way of thinking that everyone would control a game in one way… or in Resident Evil 5, a set of 4 ways, be perceived in more important matters than pastime games. I’m slowly being waned away from playing games.

    Legacy Nverted:

    Love the name, exactly how I roll.

    Good news my friend, both control styles A and C allow you to aim with the left stick. With control A being 100% identical to RE4 controls. I would have preferred they allow us to shoot with the left and right triggers, but I’m just happy to have the tried and true RE4 setup to use again.

    I take it you were using default of control type D?

    Let us know what you think.
