The Next 007 Game: Quantum of Solace

Let’s face facts here, guys - 2008 has gotten off to a rocky start for us. That said, we’re going to take a quick moment to examine some of the crap we’ve put up with so far.
First, we had Turok omitting any form of alternate controls. The series that got many of you started with Southpaw left you high and dry. Then we had the Frontlines Legacy garbage, and GTA IV let many of you down as far as controls were concerned. Additionally, the recent Haze demo skipped out on Legacy, even though this game was developed by the GoldenEye crew.
But all of a sudden, things are looking up for us. You’re all aware that Gears of War 2 is on the way, and it’s looking tight. Also in the works, which has me quite excited, is Quantum of Solace. Brought to you by Activision, this is the next James Bond game and it’s set to be released in conjunction with the film of the same title.
Gone are the days of crappy 007 games by EA and it’s time for something new and fresh. The game is going to be utilizing the COD 4 engine, so we know already that it’s going to look great and the controls should be spot on.

Of course, this game is being developed by Treyarch. Not exactly the FPS crowd’s favorite developer, but as I mentioned above, the fact that it will be running on the COD 4 engine is promising. Perhaps Activision will have Treyarch and Infinity Ward (my favorite developer) rotate the production duties, as seen in the COD series. That would be just fine by me.
Now, if 2008 has taught us anything, it’s that no games are a sure-thing for alt-control support anymore. However, I’m encouraged based on the control options of the COD series. But don’t run out and buy this game until you get an official report from Alt-Controls.com when it is released this fall.

We can be encouraged by the fact that COD2, 3 and 4 offered alternative controls though. But you never know these days…
